Sand Swan – Listening Event
September 25, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm CDT
Sand Swan is the heavy dark rock musical outlet for multi-instrumentalist and Midtown Memphian, Trent Falgoust. Originally conceived in 2012, with no serious consideration for releasing music, Trent spent a handful of years content to keep his music solely as a personal hobby. But around 2020 his mindset began to change. ‘”At the onset of the pandemic, I found myself with more time being at home surrounded by music gear and the ability to record. My mind kept telling me “Why the hell not? Who cares what happens?” he says. And so, he coined the name “Sand Swan” which is a twisted version of the French words “sans soin” meaning “without care”. Sand Swan is an attempt to smash the many genres of rock music that make up Trent’s influences into a single cohesive vision. “I like to describe it as the aspirations of Prog Rock artists such as Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, or Porcupine Tree being performed with the aesthetics of 90s alternative artists such as Soundgarden, Jeff Buckley, or Nine Inch Nails.” he states.
After releasing a 5 song EP in 2024, Sand Swan is now digitally releasing a full length LP titled “Anomies & Enemies”, on September 12th, 2025 to all streaming platforms. The new album is a thematically heavy reflection that delves into recent societal trends. It covers topics of wealth disparity, political demagoguery, technocratic division, opioid abuse, rising fascism, and deaths of despair. While also being instrumentally diverse; covering styles of progressive metal, punk rock, industrial, ambient, as well as some darker classical and jazz moments. Take this chance to hear the brand new album at the Listening Event on Thursday, September 25th (6 to 7:30PM). Hosted by The Memphis Listening Lab.
